Our purpose is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pastor Rodney Gage spent over 14 years as a traveling a speaker and author. After speaking to over 2 million students across America through his nationally acclaimed school assembly program and speaking in over 300 church events & conferences, little did he know God was preparing him for a new season and journey for his life and ministry. In October of 1998, Rodney and his wife Michelle attended a Church Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois where God clearly spoke to their hearts to start a church committed to reaching unchurched people.
After learning of Rodney’s call upon his life to start a church, Dr. Jim Henry (former) pastor of The First Baptist Church of Orlando contacted Rodney about the possibilities of bringing his vision to start a church to Orlando in the future growth area of the city called Lake Nona. After much prayer and sensing God’s call on their lives, Rodney and Michelle (8 months pregnant) along with their other two children moved from Dallas, Texas to Orlando to pursue a new vision God had put in their hearts.
With the help of a dedicated team of 43 volunteers, that vision became a reality on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2001 when ReThink Life launched their inaugural worship service at the Northlake Park Elementary School/YMCA located in Lake Nona. After realizing the timing of planting the church in Lake Nona was well ahead of the growth curve back in 2001 and sensing the need to be in a more populated area, they began a challenging, city spanning journey that led their portable church to a movie theater, a high school, to another elementary school, to eventually moving into a 14,000 S.F. space located in the Belle Isle Shopping Center. After 14 years of being a storefront church and longing to fulfill their original vision to purchase land in the Lake Nona area and to build a permanent church of their own, ReThink Life Church moved out of the storefront and has come full circle to where they originally started in Lake Nona. Today, RTL is currently holding services in the beautiful, state of the art, Performing Arts Center at Lake Nona High School.
After 18 years of starts and stops and relocations, God’s faithfulness has allowed ReThink Life to see thousands of people won to faith in Christ at every location along the journey. Many of the people whose lives have been changed are continuing to help write the story of God’s faithfulness. Today, ReThink Life is aggressively pursuing their dream to have a permanent home in the rapidly growing Lake Nona community and S.E. region of our city. Without question, we truly believe the best is still yet to come!
